Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
In EYFS, our areas of learning are carefully planned to ensure all children have access to a rich and varied curriculum.
There are 7 areas of Learning and they are divided into prime and specific areas as well the Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning.
The Prime Areas of Learning are:
Personal, Social and Emotional development, Communication and Language and Physical Development
The Specific Areas of Learning are:
Literacy , Mathematics , Understanding the World , Expressive Arts and Design.
The Characteristics of Effective Teaching and Learning are:
- playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’
- active learning – children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements
- creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things
We are proud of our Child Led Curriculum, where planning with the children based on their interests, needs and fascinations is a priority and ensuring the children in our setting recieve a rich and varied experience. In the EYFS at Henry Bloom Noble we value togetherness, wellbeing and belonging through celebrating the diverse cultures within our setting. We believe having shared experiences such as trips, encouraging parental involvement as well as exploring nature, develops the child as a whole. We also lay the foundations for the development of early mathematical and literacy skills which prepare children for the next stage of their education. We follow and plan from the Non-Statutory Guidence for EYFS, 'Development Matters' which you can find following this link.
